Sporting activities
Football
Football is one of our most popular sports and regular training sessions are held throughout the year. There is a national indoor football league between November and April and a number of clubs around the country are involved in producing this competitive league for footballers of varying sight levels.
Cricket
The excitement of playing cricket is enjoyed by blind and partially sighted people as much as anyone else. The game is played to the standard rules of cricket but is adapted slightly to take account of visually impaired people, for example, the ball used is a ‘football size ball’. Our cricket team plays matches between April and September each year. The team plays its home matches in East London but also travels around the country for other matches. There is a cricket league and a knock out cup competition which culminates in the final being held at Lords Cricket Ground.
Bowling
If you don’t want to play a competitive sport but want to have some fun then why not join our Ten Pin Bowling group. They meet once a month in Central London and are always happy to see new members.
Swimming
There is no better way of getting regular exercise in a leisurely setting than joining our swimming group once a week at a leisure centre in West London. A pool is hired specifically for our club to give members the freedom to swim as much as they like.
Rambling
What could be better than to spend the day walking in the countryside in the fresh air. Walking is a popular pastime for visually impaired people and we provide various walks in London and the Home Counties between the months of March and August. Individual guides are provided for all members taking part in the walks in conjunction with local rambling groups.
